Three representatives of IYNIGO, AJI’s youth scheme, were in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire for the first-ever Ignite Youth Mass celebrated with their Ivorian counterparts of MAGIS Abidjan. The Mass, aptly identified in French as “La Messe des Jeunes” was presided over by Rev. Fr. Kpanie Addy, S.J., the AJI Executive Director.

The Mass was held at the chapel of the Jesuit-run university, CERAP/Inades on Sunday, February 9 2020. Concelebrating with  Fr Addy was Fr Cosmas Dewornu, S.J., with some Jesuit scholastics studying at the nearby Jesuit school of theology assisting.

After Mass, there was a period of interaction between the IYNIGO contingent and members of MAGIS Abidjan during which IYNIGO was presented with a beautiful piece of artwork. The socialization continued during lunch, and the rest of the time was used for networking and sharing of ideas.

The group also visited the Jesuit school of theology located in Angre, Cocody, L’Institut de Théologie de la Compagnie de Jésus (ITCJ). They used the opportunity to tour the beautiful campus and interact with some of the Jesuit scholastics.
