AJI Commitment To Child Protection And Safeguarding

Arrupe Jesuit Institute believes all people regardless of age, gender, disability or ethnic origin have a right to be protected from all forms of harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation. We are committed to the protection of all children under 18, in line with the Committee of the Rights of the Child, the monitoring body for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has encouraged States to review the age of majority if it is set below 18.
We expect all our personnel to respect the age of the child as any person below 18 years. We will do everything we reasonably can to protect children and adults at risk and prevent harm. It is the responsibility of all our personnel to raise any concerns to the Safeguarding Officer (SO) or Deputy SO. It is the responsibility of all managers to ensure the delivery of this policy.
Any concerns of abuse should be made to the Designated Safeguarding Officer or Deputy Safeguarding Officer. In cases of emergency, where a child or adult appears to be at immediate and serious risk the civil local authorities should be contacted immediately.
